Christmas Week!

Dear parents,

What a great wonderful Christmas week! Students finished all their work, finished our Christmas decorations, and prepared for our Christmas party. All the presents are under our two trees, and they are all so excited. I am happy to see all their cheery faces this week!

Please take a look at the test scope below, which details what will be on our final exam in early January.  Good luck and Merry Christmas!



Grade 4 English Final Exam Scope (Semester 1) 2018 – 2019
Date: Thursday and Friday, January 3-4, 2019
The recommended review material will be sent home and other material can be requested at the parents’ liability to the test scope.

Exam Tasks
Vocabulary 10%
Please review vocabulary lessons 11-15
Language Handbook
Students must fill in the blank using a word bank. The spelling of the vocabulary must be correct.
Reading Comprehension 20%
Journeys Lessons 11-15
Class A – Hard and soft back
Class B – Soft back
Students will be given a short reading. They will demonstrate their comprehension skills by answering questions from the reading.
Students will be given questions about the Journeys reading of Lessons 11-15.
Grammar 50%
Enter the World of Grammar
30% Units 9-11
Imperative – Object Personal Pronoun
Present Progressive
Present Simple

20% Accumulative from past (Units 1-8)
Students will complete gapped text, write full sentences, and answer multiple choice questions.

Persuasive Essay

Students will be graded on the following criteria:
Ø   Idea
Ø   Organization of essay (introduction, body, conclusion)
Ø   Supporting details (to a winning argument)
Ø   Overall convention (spelling/grammar mistakes)
Ø   5 sentences in each paragraph

Students will need to know:

Prime Mathematics Coursework Book
Unit 4-8 Tables and Graphs, Angles, Perpendicular and Parallel Line Segments, Squares and Rectangles, Perimeter and Area (p.77-95, 100-101, 105-108, 110-111, 113-115, 117, 119, 125-143)
Students will need to know:
Ø   How to read and solve word problems with tables and graphs
Ø   Solve math problems similar to the workbook
Ø   Questions from pages not assigned in class will not be on the exams
