Grade 4 English First Exam Scope (Semester 2) 2018 – 2019

Date: Tuesday and Wednesday, March 19-20, 2019

The recommended review material will be sent home and other material can be requested at the parents’ liability to the test scope.

Revision Content	Exam Tasks
Vocabulary 10% Please review vocabulary lessons 16-20 Language Handbook	Students must fill in the blank using a word bank. The spelling of the vocabulary must be correct.
Reading Comprehension 25% Journeys Lessons 16-20 Class A – Hard and soft back Class B – Soft back	Students will be given a short reading. They will demonstrate their comprehension skills by answering questions from the reading. Students will be given questions about the Journeys reading of Lessons 16-20.
Grammar 40% Enter the World of Grammar Units 12-14 Present Simple / Present Progressive Much – Many – A lot of – (A) Little – (A) Few Question Words	Students will complete gapped text, write full sentences, and answer multiple choice questions. Hint: study old quizzes
Writing 25% Personal Narrative Grade 4 Writing Notebook	Students will be graded on the following criteria: Ø   Story idea Ø   Hook Ø   Interesting details Ø   Organization (beginning / middle / end) Ø   Overall convention (spelling/grammar mistakes)
Science (Wednesday) My Pals are Here Science 4B Unit 19 – Heat Unit 20 – Electricity	Students will need to know: Ø   Vocabulary words/bold words from each unit Ø   Key points from reading Ø   Note: both text and pictures should be reviewed Ø   Hint: review self-check
Math (Wednesday) PRIME Mathematics 4B Unit 14 Time (p.134-157) Unit 9 Decimals (p.1-11, 18-19, 22-25, 27-28, 31-33, 35, 41-44) Unit 10.1 Addition of Decimals (p.45-56)	Students will need to know: Ø   How to read and solve word problems relating with time Ø   How to read and solve word problems relating with decimals Ø   Write the correct unit (including AM or PM) for the answers Ø   Decimal questions to the thousandth place Ø   Change decimals into fractions
